In honour of International Women’s Day, we’ll be viewing Suffragette, a historical drama set in 1912 London. A young working mother is galvanized into radical political activism supporting the right for women to vote and is willing to meet violence with violence to achieve this end.

Join other writers in a safe space to share your writing, receive feedback, offer advice, and discuss issues you may be experiencing in your writing journey.
Our meetings occasionally feature mini-writing workshops led by professional writers to provide insight into the writing process and craft.

Once a month, families are invited to come and listen to a story read in Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe) by an Indigenous community member, followed by a craft or activity. This program is offered in partnership with the Nogojiwanong Friendship Centre.
An English translation of the story will be provided. Everyone is invited to listen, learn and enjoy!

The Forest of Reading® is Canada’s largest recreational reading program! Each year 10 titles are chosen for specific age groups (called trees) and then participants vote on their favourite title to be crowned the Forest of Reading Winner in that category.

We’re transforming the Story Corner into a Makerspace where you can come and create things together! On March 8 and April 5, families with kids of all ages are welcome to drop into the Makerspace anytime between 5:30 and 7:00 pm.
March: Make a junk robot from recycled materials
April: Plant vegetable seeds
On May 3, we are asking families with kids ages 7 and up to register for a special Star Wars Makerspace and come ready to start at 5:30 pm.

“The Colour of Friendship” is a fun & unique Sock Puppet Show that celebrates our differences and rejoices in the value of our friendships. Afterward, Shelley King, puppeteer and arts educator, will guide you on a creative and playful journey to create your own, one-of-a-kind Friendship Puppet. All materials will be provided.
For children ages 6 to 12 years of age.

A one-hour discussion for adults about children’s developmental understanding of death and their relationship to grief. Utilizing children’s books, Brian Nichols (a retired psychotherapist and internationally certified play therapist) will lead an interactive exploration of books from our collection, Hospice Peterborough and from his own extensive collection.
