Wildlife Wednesdays Not Registered

Kawartha Wildlife Centre and the Library are excited to continue to offer this fun, 6-week series which teaches you about the six major classifications of animals - mammals, invertebrates, fish, birds, amphibians and reptiles.  

We will look at books from the collection, listen to firsthand experiences with animals and participate in hand-on activities to help us connect more closely to the wildlife living among us and help us to interact with them in a positive way.

After completing the 6 weeks, participants will be certified as a Peterborough Wildlife Hero! If you miss a session, don’t worry – you can join us again in the summer.

We're starting this new book club with Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. Each week we'll discuss one of the 5 parts of the book. Miss a week? We’re exploring a variety of films at the library, ranging from gripping feature films to hard-hitting documentaries. Light refreshments will be served.

When Mitzi Bearclaw (Angeline) turns 25, it’s time to start making big decisions for the future. Her dream to design cool hats is put on hold when she chooses to move from the city back to her isolated reserve to look after her sick mother.

With the reserve bully (Supernault) constantly at her heels and an old flame (Kapashesit) suddenly back in her life, she is grateful that her cousin (Martin) is there to help her in the fight to stay positive under trying circumstances. With a lot of laughs along the way, Mitzi embarks on a quest to get her family back on the right track!

Teen Library Ambassadors Application Required

Teen Library Ambassadors will gain experience relevant to work and education, develop leadership and teamwork skills, earn volunteer hours, and have lots of fun along the way! 

We're looking for teens interested in planning, promoting, and participating in monthly programs. This commitment will include monthly meeting attendance and activities outside of our monthly meetings.  

Thank you to the City of Peterborough’s Youth Council, who provide our Teen Library Ambassadors with bus passes to make their volunteer duties easier. 

NOTE:  August 14th Meeting to be held in Library Boardroom
