Celebrate National Breastfeeding Week by taking part in this breastfeeding support circle.

We will provide yummy snacks, warm drinks and community experts.

We invite you to breastfeed your baby, share breastfeeding stories and challenges, and ask any breastfeeding questions you might have.

Wildlife Coexistence Workshop Registration Required

We're partnering with Bird Friendly Peterborough (BFP) to educate, create, and learn about animals and the ways we can live better with nature.  

We will offer one module per season, after completing all three modules, you will receive a Wildlife Coexistence Certificate. 

Module 1: Being Bird Friendly 

Learn about responsible bird feeding and make your yard safe for birds. You’ll enjoy a live bird demonstration with a Certified Falconer. Bring your own bird feeder and we will evaluate it and demonstrate how to clean it and make it bird safe. One lucky participant may win a bird feeder as a door prize!

Kawartha Wildlife Centre and the Library are excited to offer this fun, 6-week series which teaches you how to have a positive impact on the earth and care for the wildlife living among us.  Learn the importance of butterflies and bumblebees, how to safely move a turtle across the road, and much more! There will be a different hands-on activity each week. 

After completing the 6 weeks, each participant will be certified as a Peterborough Wildlife Hero! 

Please note: If you are more than 10 minutes late for a program you may not be admitted.

Writing Circle Registration Required

Join other writers in a safe space to share your writing, receive feedback, offer advice, and discuss issues you may be experiencing in your writing journey.

Our meetings occasionally feature mini-writing workshops led by professional writers to provide insight into the writing process and craft.

January 24: Guest speaker: Matthew Flager

Matthew Flager is the author of Held to the Fire, the story of the 1916 fire at the Quaker Oats factory in Peterborough.  Matthew will talk about the challenges of writing a book about an event that happened 107 years ago; how Held to the Fire came into being; why this is an important story to tell; and do a select reading from the book.

Want to learn more about the people and cultures who cook with this spice? Attend our monthly Living Library Plus events and share food and recipes with other participants.

An estimated 1/3 of Canadian seniors will experience a fall each year. In this workshop, we will discuss some of the causes leading to falls in older adults and some simple changes you can make in your life now to reduce your risk of falling in the future.
