Once you've completed your 12 book challenges, please submit your form online or in-person to enter our draw to win a prize. You can track your reading in a favourite app or use the check-out history in your library account.

First Fridays: Making Music with Handbells Not Registered

Celebrate Peterborough’s arts community by embracing creativity at the Library before heading out to the downtown art crawl.

First Friday Peterborough is a self-guided tour of downtown galleries, studios, shops, and cafés that takes place on the first Friday of every month, except January, between the hours of 6:00 and 10:00 pm.

  • December 2: Making Music with Handbells

Experience the magic of ringing with the handbell choir from St. John the Evangelist Church. They will play a few pieces to demonstrate the beauty of making music as a handbell choir, then you’ll have a chance to learn how to use the bells yourself and try a simple piece.

Genealogy with Ontario Ancestors Registration Required

We're partnering with family history research experts, the Kawartha Branch of Ontario Ancestors, to bring you monthly presentations. This Winter we’ll be exploring genealogy resources available through local museums and archives. We'll explore physical and digital resources available from each organization, including time for questions and answers at each meeting.

You'll also learn about Ontario Ancestors and the benefits of joining your local Kawartha Branch.

December: Indexing and Proofing for Beginners

Come and learn what is involved from the initial indexing input to TONI and beyond. Fraser Dunford has been involved in genealogy for over 40 years, written six books, many articles on genealogy, is the creator of the Peterborough County Genealogy website and is a frequent speaker, sharing his knowledge on many genealogical topics. Fraser is also a long-time volunteer with Kawartha Branch and is the Team Lead of the Kawartha Branch Indexing Projects. This is a chance to learn the ins and outs of indexing, discover what projects Kawartha Branch has in the works, what stages the projects are in, ask questions and perhaps join the indexing team and help us reach our goals to completion.
